Madre to bring the spirit of Mexico city to Leeds this April
One of the North’s favourite Mexican restaurants, Madre is arriving in Leeds this month, and we can’t wait.
By day, Madre is a laid-back space designed for relaxed lunches and long afternoons.
By night, it transforms into a lively restaurant serving a menu that celebrates the breadth of Mexican cuisine.
From rich Oaxacan-inspired moles and salsas to Baja-style mariscos and Sonoran grilled meats, there’s something for everyone.
Bringing the bold flavours and vibrant energy of Mexico City to the city, expect Birra tacos with slow-cooked beef shin paired with an array of classic tequila-based cocktails.
At the heart of Madre is the Mexican tradition of sobremesa – the art of lingering at the table long after the meal is over.
It’s about good food, great drinks and even better company, a philosophy that has earned the restaurant a loyal following and critical acclaim across the North.
Situated in the heart of Wellington Place, Madre is to offer a lunch combo menu priced at £15 per person.
Guests can enjoy tacos (served in pairs), a side and a drink.
Madre’s popular Taco Tuesday will also be heading to Leeds, where guests can enjoy two-for-one tacos all day, every Tuesday.
Madre is joining its sister venue, Salon Madre, in Leeds’ city centre, a lively tequila bar, taqueria and sports hangout which has proved a hit since its opening in February.
Co-founder Sam Grainger says: “Mexico is alive with passionate artisans and cooks, mastering everything from street tacos to regional delicacies.

Madre is set to bring a fresh, exciting dining experience to Leeds next week, officially opening its doors at Wellington Place on 17th April 2026.
