Our top 10 highlights of 2025

Our top 10 highlights of 2025 were very hard to pick from.

We’ve had a busy year, full of fantastic street food, fine dining and proper Yorkshire days out. From visiting one of the best pubs in the world, to sampling afternoon tea with fluffy Valais sheep in the stunning dales.

We can’t wait to show you what we get up to in the new year.

In March time, the glorious Yorkshire sunshine was on our side as we headed to The Craven Arms, a quirky country pub that was named the best in the world.

Our video exploring this pub reached 1.6 million views, and we enjoyed classic British pub dishes – a steak and ale pie and a huge portion of fresh fish and chips. Finished off with a rich sticky toffee pudding and a lemon tart, we certainly were not leaving hungry.

Whether you’re popping by for a pint with some of the best views in God’s own country, or a cosy fireside dinner, this one is not to miss.

Afternoon tea with a flock of sheep, Harrogate

Set at High Snape Farm, we were able to try a truly unique foodie new experience this year.

Brought to Yorkshire by Blooming Sheep, with delicious afternoon tea provided by the loved Harrogate spot Mamma Doreens, this was one of our most memorable visits of 2025!

In a private, beautifully styled paddock, we sampled a spread of sweet and savoury goodies, fresh scones, delicate finger sandwiches and patisserie.

The stars of the show were the sheep, of course, who were so fluffy and friendly we had to feed them a few of their own ginger biscuits.

Tried Saltmoore’s Sunday BBQs, Sandsend

We were lucky enough to visit the gorgeous wellness-led sanctuary of Saltmoore on a few occasions this year, and their Sunday BBQs on the terrace were a highlight.

Using quality local produce, we enjoyed a delicious barbecued half chicken, smoked pork ribs and miso prawns. Paired with Saltmoore’s signature soft serve and some spritzes in the August sunshine, this easily makes our top visits of 2025.

Art of Pastry experience, Grantley Hall, Ripon

In April, we were lucky enough to attend a chef demonstration at Grantley Hall, a rare glimpse behind the scenes of its renowned kitchens.

Led by Executive Pastry Chef Stefan Rose, who guided us through the process of crafting his signature Earl Grey Teacup dessert. Followed by a delicious seasonal lunch and a glass of champagne ( of course!), it was a great opportunity to learn from the very best in the business.

Baking, pastry, and desserts half-day cookery class at The Grand, York

While we are usually the ones tasting, this time it was our turn to get baking! We joined The Grand’s Cookery School for a half-day baking, pastry and desserts class.

With expert guidance, we made bagels, macarons, choux pastry and crème pâtissière. Come lunchtime, we paused to enjoy some of our fresh bakes with a chilled glass of rosé.

New Evening Dining concept at Betty’s, York

Where classic elegance meets unforgettable flavours, Betty’s is iconic in the Yorkshire region, known for their fat rascals, rich fondant fancies and afternoon teas.

New for 2025, their York and popular Harrogate branches launched evening dining, where the same fantastic service and quality of dishes can be ensured.

We were able to have a first look at their delicious evening menu and cocktails, with sharing boards, seasonal mains and some of the best desserts around.

Tasting Menu Event featuring Great British Menu and MasterChef talents, Bosuns, York

Great British Menu chef Adam Degg, from Fifty Two at Rudding Park, and Chef Kurtus Auty from Bosun’s, joined together for a foodie feasting event like no other. We and a small number of guests enjoyed seasonal dishes overlooking the river Ouse.

This collaborative, 6-course tasting menu event was a huge success, and we loved being involved. Expect more star-studded dining events with Yorkshire Food Guide in 2026 and stay up to date with the best events near you.

In collaboration with Moet Chandon, Grantley Hall unveiled yet another showstopping winter takeover. An evening of live music, quality dining and champagne cocktails under the Orchard’s twinkling trees – it is one of the most luxurious winter dining experiences in Yorkshire.
